Sara Coverstone

Sara Coverstone joined Northern Arizona Healthcare as the chief compliance and privacy officer in March 2021. She is responsible for the oversight of organizational compliance with state and federal laws and regulations, as well as the privacy and security of data. Sara enjoys the constant change of health care regulations and the challenge of finding solutions to support the mission of the organization.

Sara began her career as a hospital bedside nurse and shortly thereafter became a wound, ostomy, and continence nurse for a home health and hospice agency in Illinois. She later transitioned her career to corporate compliance and privacy. She has twenty years of experience in a variety of health care settings, including hospitals, provider practices, home health, hospice and Durable Medical Equipment. Sara has a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Indiana University and a master’s degree in bioethics from Trinity International University in Illinois. She is also certified in health care compliance and holds the CIPP/US designation through the International Association of Privacy Professionals.
