Robert (Bo) Cofield, DrPH, FACHE

Bio

Bo Cofield has recently been named Chief Operating Officer of Northern Arizona Healthcare. He joined the organization to lead its inpatient and ambulatory clinical operations and looks forward to engaging with the northern Arizona community.

Bo’s resume boasts many years of health care executive leadership, most recently supporting Prisma Health Richland Hospital in Columbia, SC, through the first two years of the COVID-19 pandemic as their chief executive officer.

He began his career serving for a decade in a variety of progressive leadership roles at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Health System, including as chief operating officer of UAB Highlands Hospital and president (interim) of the UAB Callahan Eye Foundation Hospital. In 2010, Bo joined the University of Virginia (UVA) Medical Center, as chief operating officer for its 612-bed hospital and clinics and in 2015, he was named vice-president and chief clinical operations officer for the University of Kentucky HealthCare (UKHC), where he was in charge of an 845-bed academic medical center, a 220-bed community hospital, a 195-bed psychiatric hospital and more than 70 ambulatory clinics located throughout central and eastern Kentucky.

Bo completed his administrative fellowship at Tulane University Hospital and Clinics and received his Master of Health Administration (MHA) and Doctor of Public Health (Dr.PH) degrees in Health Systems Management from the Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine. He is a graduate of Hampden-Sydney College, a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and proudly serves on the board as Treasurer of Blue Grass Care Navigators. Bo enjoys spending his free time with his two children, Alex (21) and Watson (19) and their dog Buddy.
