Kim Allen is a speech-language pathologist and lead therapist in the EntireCare Rehab and Sports Medicine department of Northern Arizona Healthcare. She is located at Flagstaff Medical Center.
Expertise and Special Interests
Kim specializes in working with patients of all ages in the diagnosis and treatment of:
- Traumatic brain injury
- Tracheostomy and ventilator dependency
- Stroke
- Swallowing difficulties
- Language and speech disorders
- Cognitive and vocal impairments
- Motor and muscle movement disorders
Kim has worked in the field of speech-language pathology since 1993, and is highly proficient in diagnostic assessments including fiberoptic endoscopic evaluation of swallowing; modified barium swallow and videostroboscopy examination for hoarseness or vocal cord complaints.
Education and Certifications
Kim earned a master’s in clinical speech pathology from Northern Arizona University, Flagstaff, where she graduated summa cum laude. She has a certificate of clinical competence in speech-language pathology.
Philosophy
Kim wants her patients to know she will do everything possible to lead them on a successful journey to improved health. She educates, motivates, and encourages patients, recognizing they are ultimately responsible for doing the hard work and making the difficult changes.
