Daryl Melvin, P.E.
Bio
Daryl Melvin was elected to the Northern Arizona Healthcare (NAH) Board of Directors in September 2022 and resides in Flagstaff.
Daryl is a private equity principal in Melvin Consulting, PLLC. He earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Arizona, and a master’s degree in civil engineering from the University of California and has completed doctoral coursework and postgraduate certification in public health from the University of Arizona. He is a 2017 Flinn Brown Fellow of the Arizona Center for Civic Leadership.
Daryl is Hopi/Navajo from the Hoospowungwa (Roadrunner clan) and born from Muii’dez’gesh’ni (Coyote pass clan). Daryl held the position of chief executive officer for numerous tribal hospitals and health centers. He is a licensed civil engineer in Arizona and New Mexico and is a captain in the U.S. Public Health Service (ret.).
Additionally, Daryl is a founding board member and treasurer for Hopivewat, a Hopi Learning Center, and volunteers as a board member with St Mary’s Food Bank.
Daryl is passionate about protecting and perpetuating tribal sovereignty, providing tribes and Native communities with the tools and expertise necessary to continue building stronger economies resulting in healthy communities. He established Melvin Consulting, PLLC as a Hopi-founded and led professional services firm in 2016 focusing on providing professional expertise and advocacy in management services, project management, planning and engineering. Melvin Consulting is a recognized leader in community capacity building through its commitment to investing in human capital and in rural infrastructure development, in partnership with the communities they serve.
