Northern Arizona Healthcare has reduced the cost of and improved access to Flagstaff’s only 3 Tesla magnetic resonance imaging, or 3T MRI, located at the Summit Center, 1485 N. Turquoise Dr. In an ongoing effort to meet the healthcare needs of the communities it serves, NAH works closely with its orthopedic partners in Flagstaff – Flagstaff Bone and Joint, and Northern Arizona Orthopaedics – to evaluate services. NAH, FBJ and NAO are committed to doing what is best for patients and the communities they serve. The group identified the cost of and access to outpatient MRI as barriers to achieving this shared vision.
Two major changes have been implemented to overcome these barriers. Capacity has been increased and same-day access is now available; and a new pricing structure has been instituted to ensure the cost of an MRI at this location is market competitive for outpatient MRI.
“Northern Arizona Orthopaedics supports NAH in their decision to improve access, lower costs and stay competitive with the pricing for the Summit Center-located 3T MRI,” said Carl DeRosa, CEO of Northern Arizona Orthopaedics. “NAO considers this one step closer to truly optimizing value in how we deliver community healthcare services.”
NAH began using a 3T MRI in Flagstaff in 2007. With a magnetic strength of 3T, the machine provides physicians with highly-detailed pictures of the body to help them evaluate a wide range of conditions including stroke, cancer, musculoskeletal conditions and heart disease.
