Requirements

Emergency medical technician applicants must have:

  • Arizona EMT certification.
  • CPR for healthcare providers certification.
  • 39-month driving record.

Paramedic applicants must have:

  • Arizona paramedic certification.
  • CPR for healthcare providers certification.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support, or ACLS, certification.
  • 39-month driving record.
  • A letter from your current or previous medical director.
  • Not required, but preferred: Pediatric Advanced Cardiac Life Support, or PALS, and Neonatal Resuscitation Program, or NRP, certifications.

Our hiring process

Guardian Medical Transport has full-time and relief positions available at different times of the year. Our current practice is to host a testing and hiring process in the spring and fall each year. Only complete applications will be considered.

Our testing process includes:

Step 1: Physical testing day and written exam

  • Two-mile walk in 30 minutes or less.
  • Physical agility test, including moving a 197-lb. backboard mannequin safely, with good technique and communication.
  • Basic Life Support/Advanced Cardiac Life Support 100-question written exam. Candidates must pass with at least a 75 percent score be considered for employment. Please study; this exam is similar to the National Registry exam.

Step 2:  Interview day with battalion chiefs and captains.

Step 3:  Second interview, which includes a 12-hour ride.
