Transporting patients with care

Since the mid-1980s, Northern Arizona Healthcare’s Guardian Air and Guardian Medical Transport have worked together to deliver high-quality transport services for medical and trauma patients. Our team of dispatchers responds to 911 calls and covers ambulance, fire and air transport 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Guardian Air serves a large area of Northern Arizona and bordering states, with air bases located in Flagstaff, Cottonwood, Page, Tuba City, Show Low, Kingman and Winslow. Guardian Air’s seven helicopters and one fixed-wing aircraft are equipped to transport patients of all ages and diverse conditions, including high-risk maternity patients and premature infants. The aircraft are staffed by specialty nurses and paramedics who deliver critical care services.

In 2015, Guardian Air responded to 3,000 calls for service.

Guardian Medical Transport serves an area of 6,400 square miles, with a fleet of 20 vehicles at three stations in Flagstaff and one in Tusayan. Guardian Medical Transport's ambulances are staffed by paramedics and Emergency Medical Technicians, or EMTs, who provide Advanced Cardiac Life Support for each and every patient.

In 2015, Guardian Medical Transport responded to approximately 16,000 calls for service.

Guardian Communications Center is a state-of-the-art dispatch facility that coordinates emergency and non-emergency transports for Guardian Air, Guardian Medical Transport and numerous area fire departments. They also manage Guardian Air’s Northern Arizona’s Infant and Children Transport, or NAICT, hotline.
