The NAH Nurse Residency Program trains graduated nurses, as well as those who are re-entering the profession, and new to specialty areas, to become safe, competent providers in many specialties such as Med/Surg/Tele, Critical Care, Emergency Department, Special Care Nursery or Pediatric Intensive Care. The program blends a learner-paced approach focused on three main types of training, including:
- Clinical learning with experienced RNs.
- Classroom learning (synchronous learning) – Hands-on learning labs including high fidelity simulation, skills, expert facilitation and critical thinking scenarios.
- Online learning (asynchronous learning) – Learner-paced, interactive modules accredited by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) and the Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN).
The residency programs graduates about 90 students a year, making it one of the largest programs in the southwest.
We believe in lifelong learning, so our colleagues may enhance their education via many in-house classes for Continuing Education. In addition, the hospitals have unit-based educators to teach clinical staff face-to-face as they care for patients. This way, our nurses continue their education not only in a classroom, but also in real time.
We promote professional development from day one, and support staff as they build a solid foundation of knowledge and skills for long term competency and success.
For this reason, and in the interests of professional growth, we offer colleagues tuition reimbursement up to $5,250 per year to further their nursing education.
