Q: What is your care philosophy?

A: “I listen and I care,” is my motto.

Q: What do you want your patients to know about you?

A: I will care for you as I would want to be cared for.

Q: What do you enjoy about being in the field of medicine?

A: I can’t pin it down to one thing, but working in the field of medicine has always made me happy.

Q: Tell us about your specialty. What drew you to it and what keeps you in it?

A: Being a nurse practitioner is the continuation of a lifetime spent working in nursing. When I was 13 years old, I volunteered as a hospital candy striper then worked as a mental health technician in my early 20s prior to graduating from nursing school. As a registered nurse, I gained experience working in Med/Surg, intensive care and with the geriatric population. As a family nurse practitioner, I am able to provide care for almost the entire spectrum of family care and have cared for three generations of families in the Verde Valley. I love what I do.

Q: Does your scope of practice include holistic/integrative medicine?

A: I do not have formal training in holistic/integrative medicine. However, as a nurse practitioner I have continued “whole body” care as I was trained in nursing and expanded my care of patients. I always try to consider alternative treatment methods and the impact of family and socioeconomic factors of my patients.

Q: What do patients tell you they appreciate about you?

A: That I listen and care about them.

Q: What are some of your achievements or recognitions?

A: I won the American Association of Nurse Practitioners Arizona NP of the year in 2006. I have hiked all the named trails in the Grand Canyon and have hiked many of them multiple times.
