Northern Arizona Healthcare hospitals designated 5 stars

Recent rankings put Northern Arizona Healthcare hospitals in the top 7 percent of hospitals in the country and the state of Arizona. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid released new rankings that rate both Flagstaff Medical Center and Verde Valley Medical as 5 stars, the highest ranking available.

“We are thrilled and so very proud of the amazing work, compassion and commitment displayed daily by our colleagues, which makes an honor such as this possible,” said Florence Spyrow, NAH CEO and President. “In the New Era at NAH, we are committed to living up to the trust our communities place in us every day, with every patient, at every location.”

FMC and VVMC join Mayo Clinic Hospital and Scottsdale Thompson Peak Medical Center as the only four hospitals in Arizona to receive a 5-star ranking. VVMC received this designation in 2018 as well, one of seven in Arizona at that time.

Ratings are based on the following measures:

  • Safety of care.
  • Readmission.
  • Patient experience.
  • Effectiveness of care.
  • Timeliness of care.
  • Efficient use of medical imaging.
  • Mortality.
